I need my application that is in the cloud to access partner B2B services as well as a certain internet site. I don’t want my application to have unsecured and uncontrolled internet access and as important, I don’t want the internet to access my application. How can I achieve this safely, securely and with continuous monitoring and alerting?

Unlike on-prem where internet access is secured behind a proxy, with layers of firewalls and far away from the application, in public cloud the internet is now right beside the application or workload and with no barriers. Scary eh!
